Bicyclist Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash in South L.A.; Motorist Sought
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2022) — James Ledford, 72, died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident Thursday night at 61st and Wall streets in South Los Angeles.
The deadly crash took place about 11 p.m. on Sept. 29th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
James Ledford was apparently riding a bicycle suffered major injuries and died at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, the motorist driving a white 1996 to 2022 GMC Savana or Chevrolet Express commercial panel van fled the scene. The vehicle also had a roof rack and a storage tube or box on its roof, police said.
Police believe the suspect’s white van would have major front-end damage from hitting the cyclist.
Furthermore, the city of Los Angeles offers a reward of up to $50,000 for information that helps authorities solve a fatal hit and run.
