
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (May 24, 2023) – James Manuel, 57, of Palmdale, and Amelia Lloyd, 80, of Palmdale, were among three who died in a crash on the 15 Freeway near Yates Well Road in Mountain Pass.
Michael Mandelsberg, 40, of Kent Washington, also died in the crash.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner identified the three victims of a crash at 4:18 p.m. on Friday, May 19th, just south of the Nevada state line.
The drivers involved were a 2015 Toyota Camry and a second sedan.
The two vehicles collided on the northbound side of the Interstate 15 Freeway, just south of Yates Well Road. The collision occurred near the California Agricultural Inspection Station.
One of the two vehicles overturned onto its side on the right-hand shoulder. Also, the second car ended up in the middle of the road upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that three individuals died as a result of the collision.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway to shut down for hours near Yates following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Mountain Pass crash is still under investigation.
