Man, 20, Critically Injured in Hit-and-run Crash in Pico-Union Area of LA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2024) — James Ramirez, 20, remains hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Pico Boulevard in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The major injury crash occurred at around 6 p.m. on Dec. 29th near Westmoreland Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and KTLA.

The collision was caught on surveillance video. The 20-year-old man was crossing the street and on his way to meet up with his friends when a driver in a dark-colored vehicle struck him. The motorist continued driving without stopping to help the young man as he lay injured in the roadway.

Paramedics responded and rushed James Ramirez to a hospital where he underwent brain surgery and is listed in serious condition.

The victim’s mother created a Gofundme account to raise money for his medical costs.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for the suspect’s vehicle which is described as possibly, a four-door Dodge Charger sedan.
