Man, 39, Struck and Killed on Hwy 180
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (June 21, 2023) —Jamie Cruz, 39, of Woodlake, died Saturday in a pedestrian accident involving three vehicles on Highway 180 in Fresno County.
The crashes happened around 11:40 pm on Highway 180 near Howard Avenue, just east of Kerman, according to KFSN and the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported a driver from Kerman struck a man who walked into the westbound lane of the highway, Your Central Valley reports.
Two more vehicles also hit the victim in the roadway and left the man with major injuries. Paramedics responded and transported him to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
The Fresno County Coroner’s office released the victim’s name.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash and they suspect alcohol was a factor for the victim.
