Woman Lying Under Blankets, Run Over in Parking Stall is Identified
LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 3, 2021) — Jamie Gatewood, 39, was struck and killed by a car while lying under a pile of blankets in a Long Beach parking stall.
The 39-years-old homeless woman suffered multiple blunt force injuries in the accident, the coroner’s office said.
The incident happened about 10:42 a.m. on Memorial Day (May 31) in a business parking lot in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Driver Cooperates with Police at Accident Scene
A 27-year-old Los Angeles man driving a 2010 Scion XB caused the accident, according to the Long Beach Post. However, the young man stopped and cooperated with authorities.
Meanwhile, Jamie Gatewood’s injuries were so severe that she died at the scene.
