Jamie Pierce Killed in Crash on I-10 Freeway, Cottonwood Springs Road

Jamie Pierce Killed in Crash on I-10 Freeway, Cottonwood Springs Road

CHIRIACO SUMMIT, Calif. (June 3, 2025) — Jamie Pierce, 44, of Riverside, died in a crash involving at least four vehicles, including a pickup truck and a semi-truck, on westbound Interstate 10. The collision brought traffic to a standstill this past Friday afternoon near Cottonwood Springs Road, just west of Box Canyon Road, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:55 a.m. when a white Dodge pickup truck reportedly slammed into a silver vehicle at full speed. One vehicle ended up in a ditch, while the silver Volkswagen was found in the center divider.

The two-vehicle crash set off a chain-reaction crash with a Tesla and a semi-truck.

Woman Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash

The Riverside woman was traveling in the Volkswagen and suffered major injuries. Unfortunately, she died at the scene of the crash around 12:38 p.m. and was later identified as Jamie Pierce by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.

Emergency responders blocked multiple lanes to access the crash site, including the No. 1 and 2 lanes, causing traffic to back up significantly. Vehicles were temporarily diverted to the right-hand shoulder. CHP later issued a SigAlert due to the severity of the crash and lane closures.

Tow trucks and evidence collection units were dispatched, including heavy-duty support for the involved big rig. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Drivers are urged to use caution and consider alternate routes while the scene is cleared.
