Driver Crashes into Garden Grove Home Killing Woman
SANTA ANA, Calif. (May 14, 2024) – Janet Carrillo, 40, of Garden Grove, died on Mother’s Day when a suspected DUI driver crashed into the bedroom of her Garden Grove home on Magnolia Street near Marylee Drive.
The deadly crash occurred at around 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 12th in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street in Garden Grove, according to the Orange County Register.
A 35-year-old Riverside man, identified as Jadier E. Salazarmontano, was driving the 2019 Toyota Camry involved in the crash. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and other felony charges.
Bystanders called 911 to report the hit-and-run collision as the driver had walked away from the crash scene. Esteban Gomez, 57, the victim’s brother-in-law, was among several people who tracked the suspect and he chased him down on foot.
Paramedics responded and located Janet Carrillo trapped by the vehicle at her home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
