Woman Killed in Crash at Claremont Intersection Identified
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2022) — Janet Hernandez, 28, of Ontario, died in a collision Monday night that also injured two men at a Claremont intersection.
The California Highway Patrol reported the solo-vehicle crash happened about 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 17th on Mount Baldy Road and Mountain Avenue. Also, police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The woman who died was riding in a 2018 Toyota Camry as a front-seat passenger. The 30-year-old Los Angeles man driving the car reportedly lost control while driving at an unsafe speed due to wet road conditions. The car veered into a dirt berm and overturned, police said. The woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Fatal DUI Collision at Mount Baldy and Mountain Avenue
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified Janet Hernandez as the woman who died in the crash.
Meanwhile, the driver and a 31-year-old Los Angeles man suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported the two men to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
The suspect is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station, according to online inmate records.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Claremont crash.
