The California Highway Patrol identified the 53-year-old Twain Harte as the victim of the wreck which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Janice Leslie was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition west on Highway 108 in East Sonora. At the same time, a 2008 Ford Escape was going east.
For an unknown reason, the Escape crossed over the double yellow lines directly in front the Expedition. CHP said the two cars then collided head-on east of the Hess Avenue exit.
