Jason Casey, 42, Killed in Delhi Crash Near North Avenue and Cortez Avenue
DELHI, CA (April 20, 2021) – A motorcycle crash killed Jason Casey near North Avenue and Cortez Avenue in Delhi.
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified the 42-year-old Delhi man as the victim of the fatal wreck on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened when Jason Casey was riding a 2008 Honda CBR1000 north on Cortez Avenue approaching the intersection with North Avenue in Delhi.
At the same time, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe towing a trailer was going south on Cortez. The California Highway Patrol said the Chevrolet then tried to make a left turn onto North.

In the process, the motorcyclist collided with the passenger side of the Tahoe. The Merced Sun-Star reported the accident on April 19 at about 4:15 p.m.
Jason Casey ended up ejected from his bike and landed between the Chevrolet and the trailer. Both the motorcycle and the Tahoe caught fire upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The male driver of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries but refused medical transport.
Meanwhile, the motorist told CHP that he saw the motorcycle in the distance and believed he had enough time to make the turn. He cooperated with the authorities.
The tragic Delhi crash is still under investigation.
