Moped Rider, Jason Rowland, 49, Killed in San Bernardino Area Traffic Collision
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (June 30, 2026) — A 49-year-old San Bernardino man was killed Friday in Rialto when a driver struck him on his moped at Highland Avenue and Del Rosa Avenue, authorities said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:46 p.m. on June 26 in front of the Wing Stop and Walgreens at the Rialto intersection, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
Emergency responders arrived to find the white moped and its rider, Jason Rowland, down in the roadway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of a dark grey Subaru or similar vehicle was making a left turn when the collision occurred. It’s unknown which motorist had the right-of-way at the time of the crash, but the circumstances are under investigation.
The identity of any other motorists involved has not been disclosed, and no information regarding additional injuries has been released.
The San Bernardino Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal collision. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the department’s Traffic Unit.
