Santa Barbara County, CA (April 20, 2022)Jason Shevach, a 20-year-old man, suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred on Highway 154.

Jason Shevach Badly Hurt in Santa Barbara Bicycle Accident

The Lompoc Record News reported Shevach, of Burlingame, was riding a Giant Contend road bike heading west on SR-154. When the bicyclist approached the area near Lakeview Drive, a sedan struck the rear of the road bike. The force from the impact resulted in injuries to Shevach. According to the article published online, a ground ambulance transported the patient to the entrance of Cachuma Lake. From there, a CalSTAR airlifted Shevach to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of major trauma.

Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver of the sedan involved in the crash fled the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the hit-and-run suspect was possibly driving a maroon or burgundy Toyota Scion XD when the collision happened.

Detectives continue to investigate several unclear factor surrounding the bicycle accident on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County.
