Jason Vera Charged in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash at California Avenue and A Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 26, 2021) – Authorities identified Jason Vera as the suspect in Bakersfield hit-and-run crash last month.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, officers reported the accident on March 5 shortly before 10 p.m.
The incident began when Jason Vera was driving his vehicle near the intersection of California Avenue and A Street in Bakersfield. At the same time, Carlos Martin was riding a motorcycle.
Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the motorcyclist. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the rider left lying on the ground.
Carlos Martin Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Collision
Carlos Martin ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the current and future medical costs of the motorcyclist. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Jason Vera did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
Authorities soon arrested and charged him with hit-and-run and DUI-related offenses. Records showed that the suspect has pleaded not guilty and is next due in court on May 11.
The Bakersfield hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
