Javier Gastelum Killed in 5-Vehicle Crash in South Gate

Man, 50, Identified as Motorist Who Died

SOUTH GATE, Calif. (March 4, 2025) – Javier Gastelum, 50, was killed early Sunday in a five-vehicle crash at East Imperial Highway and South Garfield Avenue in South Gate.

South Gate police responded to the crash scene at 2:38 a.m. on Sunday, March 2nd, at the South Gate intersection.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived within minutes of the collision and transported one person to a hospital, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

The South Gate Police Department was also at the scene when another motorist was pronounced dead following the crash.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the victim the next day as Javier Gastelum.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash.
