Jay Lewis, 49, Killed in Humboldt County Crash on King Salmon Avenue
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (August 30, 2022) – Jay Lewis was killed after a motorcycle crash on King Salmon Avenue in Humboldt County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 49-year-old Eureka man as the victim of the fatal wreck which last week on Sunday.
The incident happened when Jay Lewis was riding a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle west on King Salmon Avenue in Humboldt County. At the same time, a 2006 BMW sedan was going east.
CHP said the driver of the car, 21 year old Dillon Thornton-Weaver, tried to pass a slower moving vehicle in front. He then traveled into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the motorcyclist.

In the process, the Eureka man slammed head-on into the rider near the entrance to the PG&E power plant. The KYMKEMP the accident occurred on August 21 at about 1:30 p.m.
Jay Lewis died at the scene of the crash. CHP added that Dillon Thornton-Weaver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed him to the St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, officers forced a stretch of King Salmon Avenue to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The cause of the Humboldt County crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 707-822-5981.
