Jayden Vanzeyl and Aaliyah Fedak Seriously Injured, 2 Killed in Highway 145 Head-On Crash
MADERA COUNTY (September 10, 2018) – Two teens were seriously injured after an alleged DUI crash that also killed two adults along Highway 145 Friday, according to The Merced Sun-Star.
The young victims have been identified as 16-year-old Jayden Vanzeyl and 14-year-old Aaliyah Fedak.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 27-year-old Sasha Watson was passing west in the eastbound lane over a double yellow line when her 2013 Ford Fusion collided head-on with a Hyundai Accent. The Hyundai caught fire as a result of the crash.
Suspected DUI Driver, Sasha Watson, Under Arrest
Madera County Sheriff’s Office affirmed that the driver of the Accent, 51-year-old Karrie Lynn Peterson, and a passenger in the Fusion, 53-year-old Heidi Lynn Vanzeyl, both died at the scene. The two were Oakhurts residents.
Watson and the two teenagers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The accident occurred on September 7 at around 10:41 a.m.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that Watson was driving impaired at the time of the wreck. She was then placed under arrest. The incident remains under investigation.
