Jeanne Raines, 28, Injured in Drytown Fatal Crash on Highway 49
AMADOR COUNTY, CA (November 17, 2021) – A fatal crash injured Jeanne Raines on Highway 49 near Drytown in Amador County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 28-year-old Pine Grove woman as the victim in the collision which took place on Wednesday.
The incident began when Jeanne Raines was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla north on Highway 49 near Drytown. At the same time, a Honda Insight was traveling at a high rate of speed south.
CHP said the Honda then drifted off the west roadway edge of the highway and made an abrupt turn to the left. The car crossed the double yellow lines into the path of travel of the Toyota.
Man, 33, Killed in Wreck
The Honda slammed head-on into the Corolla, north of Old Highway 49. The Ledger Dispatch and KVGC Radio wrote that the accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m.
Jeanne Raines ended up hurt as a result of the Highway 49 crash. Paramedics provided treatment to the patient for the minor injuries they sustained in the wreck.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the Honda spun out of control, went off the road and struck a tree. Its driver, a 33-year-old Stockton man, died following the incident.
Officers forced the northbound lanes of Highway 49 to shut down after the collision. The Drytown crash is still under investigation.
