Motorcyclist Killed in Bakersfield Car Accident
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Dec. 17, 2018) — Jeffrey Frank Chapin, 64, was killed Sunday after crashing his motorcycle into a car that turned in front of him at the intersection of Brimhall Road and Calloway Drive.
The crash took place about 1:42 p.m., according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling northbound on Calloway Drive when a driver in a Ford Fusion heading southbound made a turn onto eastbound Brimhall Road.
The man failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist and reportedly caused the crash.
Police say the driver of the car stopped and cooperated with the investigation. An investigation into the crash is underway.

Police are reviewing all the evidence and will ultimately determine fault for this crash. It appears that the driver in the car may be held responsible as they violated the motorcyclist’s right of way. Other factors could be considered such as speed and or other traffic violations if they were involved.
