
VISALIA, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2023) – At least five people suffered injuries following two collisions involving a suspected DUI driver on Road 108 in Visalia.
The collisions occurred about 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29th on Road 108 near Avenue 264, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jeffrey Meek, 35, of Visalia, was traveling at high speed northbound on Road 108 and allegedly caused two collisions with three other motorists, according to YourCentralValley.com.
The first occurred near Avenue 264 when the Visalia man reportedly sideswiped a Toyota RAV 4 SUV traveling ahead of him in the same direction and fled the scene. The woman driving the RAV4 and her 3-month-old passenger were both taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Next, the suspect continued driving north on Road 108 until he crashed into the drivers of a Toyota Camry sedan and a Honda Civic.
A pregnant woman riding as a passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries and reported having contractions. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Also, the drivers of the Toyota and Honda were taken to the hospital with minor to major injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities reported that Jeffrey Meek also suffered minor injuries and got treated at the hospital before being booked at Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
The crash remains under investigation.
