Jennifer Cardenas, 22, Killed in Corona Crash on 91 Freeway

CORONA, CA (March 6, 2023) – Jennifer Cardenas was killed after a wrong-way crash on the 91 Freeway in Corona.

The coroner’s office identified the 22-year-old Riverside woman as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.

The incident happened when Jennifer Cardenas was driving a Toyota Corolla east on the 91 Freeway, east of the Interstate 15, in Corona.

At the same time, a Honda Accord was traveling west in the eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed. The Honda steered into the HOV lane, in Riverside, heading toward Corona.

1 Injured in Wreck

The California Highway Patrol said the Accord continued and then slammed head-on into the Toyota. The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the collision occurred on March 5 at about 3:49 a.m.

Jennifer Cardenas died at the scene of the crash. Firefighters also pronounced the wrong-way driver dead at the accident site.

The passenger in the Honda, a 23-year-old Corona woman, sustained minor injuries as a result of the wreck. Paramedics rushed her to a regional trauma center for treatment.

Meanwhile, officers forced the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fata; Corona crash is still under investigation.
