Woman Killed in Crash on I-5 Freeway is Identified
FIREBAUGH, Calif. (June 28, 2022) – Jenny Ko, 53, of Los Altos, died Saturday after a car she was riding in was rear-ended on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Firebaugh.
The collision occurred about 2:17 p.m. on June 25th at Nees Avenue, according to the Fresno Bee and the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner.
A driver in a 2016 Freightliner was traveling north on the Intestate 5 Freeway when traffic slowed down due to an earlier car fire on the shoulder. For an unknown reason, the driver of the semi-truck failed to see the vehicles slowing down.
The truck slammed into a 2016 Nissan Murano, a gray Kia Optima, a white Honda Accord and a red Ford Bronco.
Next, the Freightliner overturned due to the impact of the collision. Paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of Jenny Ko. She was a passenger in the back of the Nissan.
Another person suffered minor injuries following the incident.
Meanwhile, the northbound lanes of the Interstate 5 closed after the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
