Jeremy Krabbe killed by passing vehicle on Highway 17
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 12, 2018) — A passing vehicle struck and killed Jeremy Krabbe, 49, of Watsonville, early Sunday morning when he got out of his car following a crash on Highway 17 near Los Gatos, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man died of his injuries at the scene, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
The collision involved a sequence of collisions that involved four motorists.
The initial crash was reported at 5:35 a.m. A driver in a blue truck reportedly lost control on southbound 17 near Highway 9 and crashed into the concrete median. The impact left debris strewn all over the highway, police said.
Next, Krabbe’s Honda Accord collided with the debris, got out of his car and was struck by an oncoming Honda Accord.
Finally, a driver in a Chevrolet van crashed into the blue truck. Paramedics responded and transported a passenger from the van to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Lee said. Meanwhile, the driver in the blue truck that was first to crash, left the scene without exchanging information with the other motorists or waiting for police.
