Santa Barbara, CA (April 20, 2022) – A police officer suffered injuries following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on West Alamar Avenue, the KSBY News reported.

Authorities said a police officer was parked near the 200 block of West Alamar Avenue on April 15, Friday. While the deputy was sitting in his patrol vehicle completing a report, a civilian vehicle rear-ended and sideswiped the driver’s side of the police car.

The crash took place at about 6:30 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found the officer trapped in the wreckage. An extrication team pulled out the victim, then checked their condition. The article published online confirmed the deputy sustained injuries as a result of the wreck.

Investigators mentioned the other driver showed signs of intoxication. For this reason, officials arrested and booked the man into the Santa Barbara County Jail for felony DUI causing injury; misdemeanor driving on a suspended license; and misdemeanor driving a vehicle without an interlock device. Authorities identified the DUI suspect as 40-year-old Jeremy Joe Patterson, of Santa Barbara.

Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
