4-Vehicle San Pablo Crash on Interstate 80 Freeway
SAN PABLO, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2022) – Jerrick Bernstine, 25, of Hercules, died in a 4-vehicle collision on the Interstate 80 Freeway, just west of San Pablo Dam Road.
Two others were hospitalized following the collision about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday morning in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened after a driver in a white transit van reportedly lost control, struck the center divider and came to a stop facing the wrong direction on the freeway. Three other cars crashed into the van after the initial crash.
Jerrick Bernstine died at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, two people were hospitalized with major injuries.
Police issued a Sig Alert at 6:45 a.m. and they diverted traffic to San Pablo Dam Road.
The roadway remained blocked by vehicles until 9:40 a.m. when the lanes reopened.
