Jerry Garcia, 56, Died in Motorcycle Crash on Pomona 60 Freeway, SR-71

POMONA, Calif., (August 26, 2026) — Jerry Garcia, 56, died in a motorcycle accident last Friday morning on the westbound Pomona 60 Freeway transitioning to the southbound State Route 71.
The incident was reported on August 20th at approximately 6:32 a.m. on the connector road described as a blind curve, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The authorities and emergency crews were alerted to the scene and arrived by 6:52 a.m.

Following their arrival, the CHP issued a SigAlert, closing the transition road for roughly an hour to manage the situation and ensure safety amid the blind curve conditions.
The CHP has not released further information regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Investigators are actively seeking witnesses to provide any additional information that may aid in clarifying the events that transpired. The roadway was reportedly shut down to prevent further incidents and to facilitate a thorough investigation.
