Driver, 88, Dies in Collision Near Reed Road
Oakdale, CA (September 15, 2022) – Jerry Murphy, an 88-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a car accident that occurred on Pontiac Street, the Oakdale Leader News reported.
Authorities said Murphy was behind the wheel of a 2017 Lincoln MKZ heading east on Pontiac. When the man approached the area near Reed Road, the Lincoln crashed into a parked Dodge Ram pickup. The catastrophic incident took place Sunday around 8:30 a.m.
Deadly Car Accident on Pontiac Street in Oakdale
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the Lincoln with significant front-end damage and partially blocking a city sidewalk. Medical personnel attended to the driver of the Lincoln, then transported him to Oak Valley Hospital. The patient later sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Officials identified the deceased as Jerry Murphy, of Oakdale.
It remained unclear if the Dodge was legally parked at the time of the collision.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly crash that happened on Pontiac Street in Oakdale.
