Bicyclist Jesus Plancarte Killed in Hit-and-Run at Story Road and Jackson Avenue
SAN JOSE (September 6, 2019) – The alleged hit-and-run driver that killed a bicyclist at Story Road and Jackson Street last month has been identified.
Police affirmed that 26-year-old Jesse Alonso Aguilar was the suspect in the tragic accident which took place on August 29 just after 2 p.m.
Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said 44-year-old Jesus Orozco Plancarte was in a crosswalk at the intersection when he was struck by a gold-colored Chevrolet Suburban.
Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Jesse Aguilar, 26, Arrested
According to reports by The Mercury News and ABC 7, the Suburban driven by Aguilar was headed west on Story Road when it slammed into a blue Chevrolet Silverado at Jackson Street.
The SUV continued through the intersection and ultimately hit the cyclist. Paramedics responded and pronounced the San Jose rider dead at the scene.
The man driving the pickup truck was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The name and condition of the injured motorist were not available.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Aguilar did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the area. He was later located and arrested. The incident remains under investigation.
