Couple, 45 and 36, Fatal Victims in Car Accident on Highway 199
Hicochi, CA (March 30, 2021) – Jessica Woodruff, and Jake Woodruff both died following a tragic car crash on Highway 199 on March 25.
The Siskiyou Daily News reported 45-year-old Jessica and 36-year-old Jake were traveling on Highway 199 Thursday noon. Investigators determined the husband and wife were on an annual trip up the coast for the birthday of Jessica Woodruff.
When their Honda Accord approached the area near Walker Road, west of Hiouchi town, a tree suddenly fell. The large redwood tree crashed directly on top of their car.
Rescue teams arrived at the site shortly after the incident. Firefighters worked extensively to extricate the driver, Jake, and the passenger, Jessica.

Sadly, the husband and wife both suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. It remained unclear whether Jessica and Jake Woodruff died at the scene or at a hospital.
Meanwhile, responding police reportedly closed Highway 199 for nearly an hour to give way to the investigation process.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
