Bicyclist Jesus Urbina, 36, Killed in Arleta Hit-and-Run on Branford Street
LOS ANGELES (January 20, 2020) – A bicyclist killed after an alleged hit-and-run collision along Branford Street Sunday evening has been identified.
Police said 36-year-old Jesus Urbina died following the accident on January 19 which occurred in the Arleta neighborhood.
Authorities determined that Urbina was riding a bicycle northeast across Branford Street near Arleta Avenue when a speeding Mercedes-Benz struck him.
According to reports by The Daily News and CBS Los Angeles, the incident began when the Mercedes was going westbound in the right lane of Branford behind another vehicle.

The driver of the Mercedes then allegedly sped into the left lane to pass the slower car and in the process hit the cyclist. The accident occurred at approximately 7 p.m.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Urbina left lying in the roadway and suffering from severe injuries following the crash.
He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the operator of the Mercedes did not stop to render aid and took off.
