Jesus Vargas, Brenda Torres and Child Injured in Highway 99 DUI Crash
MERCED COUNTY (July 29, 2018) – Two adults and one child was seriously injured after an alleged DUI crash along Highway 99 near Shanks Road, according to Merced Sun-Star.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Shayla Gardenia Jaimes was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla south in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 when the Delhi woman sideswiped a 1998 Dodge Durango.
The Toyota Corolla then struck head-on a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Jesus Venegas Vargas, of Turlock. The impact of the collision sent both cars to spin into the center media.

CHP affirmed that Venegas Vargas was transported to Memorial Medical Center with rib injuries. His passenger, 32-year-old Brenda Torres, was brought to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with a broken leg.
A 7-year-old boy riding in the back seat of the Nissan Altima was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera to be treated for broken jaw and facial lacerations. The child is reportedly Venegas Vargas’ son,
Meanwhile, Jaimes was hospitalized for a broken pelvis. She is expected to be arrested on suspcision of driving under the influence of alcohol after medical release. The investigation is ongoing.
