4 People Injured; Jet Ski and Boat Crash

MISSION BAY, San Diego County (July 17, 2017) – According to an article by San Diego Union-Tribune, four people were injured after a Jet Ski and a boat crashed off Ski Beach Park Sunday evening.

At about 6:00 p.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue Department received a report of the incident that took place near the park on Ingraham Street.

Medical personnel responded to the scene and determined that three from the injured people were riding on the 21-foot boat at the time, while the fourth patient was the 28-year-old Jet Ski operator. All four parties were reportedly transported to hospitals for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

As per the article, San Diego police officials and local lifeguards are still investigating the cause of the collision.

As water related activities such as boating continue to rise, accidents become more prevalent throughout California. While the use of personal watercraft and boats can be enjoyable and fun, it can also be very dangerous if not handled with extreme care and caution.

Boating accidents occur on waterways for a wide range of reasons, such operator error, excessive speed for weather or water conditions, and failure to abide by maritime navigation rules. These may cause accidents which often end with minor to major injury, or even death.

If you, or a loved one, have been involved in a boat accident due to the negligence of a second party, we strongly advised you to contact an experienced San Diego County personal injury lawyer to help you assess your case and obtain the settlement for the damages including hospital bills, medical expenses, lost wages and property losses.

The first thing you should do is contact an attorney. Without the representation of a lawyer, insurance companies might make contact with you directly, and since they are trained to protect their best interests, this could mean a loss of rights on your behalf, especially if you unknowingly sign something that they didn't completely explain to you. Handling a personal injury claim by yourself is very difficult. You will deal directly with the insurance adjuster who is often trained to obtain the information they are not entitled to use. This information can negatively impact and de-value your case. Once your case is damaged, it is very difficult to repair it and usually costs you thousands of dollars less in a settlement.
