4-Year-Old Boy Hit by Car in a Salinas Mobile Home Park
SALINAS (May 9, 2017)- According to KSBW.com, a deadly accident Tuesday, May 9th, resulted in the death of a young boy identified as Jhonathan Xavier Chaidez, 4.
The incident was reported to have taken place at 150 Sherwood Drive at a mobile home park.
Per KSBW, Jhonathan Xavier Chaidez and his 6-year-old sister were playing around in a driveway. The brother and sister entered the path of a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old woman attempting to exit the park. The sister was able to dodge being hit but Jhonathan Xavier Chaidez was, unfortunately, unable to so as he was struck by the vehicle which was moving at a speed no fast than 5 mph or less.
Paramedics were notified and arrived promptly only to sadly pronounce the young boy deceased at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that drugs nor alcohol were involving factors. Police officials believe that this incident was simply a case where neither the children or the driver were likely paying well enough attention to what was going on at the time ultimately leading to the accident.
The family of the victim has also set up a Go Fund Me page for anyone who would like to make donations to go toward funeral expenses.
No further details have been released at this time.
We offer our warmest of thoughts, our prayers, and condolences to the family members of the boy as they search for peace and comfort.
