Jhovanne Velazquez Arrested Hit-and-Run Crash Santa Rosa Highway 101

Jhovanne Velazquez, 27, Suspect in Santa Rosa Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

SANTA ROSA, CA (July 28, 2021) – Authorities detained Jhovanne Velazquez after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa.

The California Highway Patrol identified the 27-year-old Santa Rosa man as the suspect in the fatal wreck which occurred on Saturday.

The incident began when Jhovanne Velazquez was driving a Toyota Camry north on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa. For an unknown reason, the car went off the road and over a ditch.

CHP said the Toyota then slammed into a chain-link fence and two trees in the area. The Camry rolled over next to a shopping center parking lot on Santa Rosa Avenue and caught fire as a result of the collision.

Girl, 16, Killed in Collision on Highway 101

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found a 16-year-old girl in the passenger seat of the burning car. She died at the scene.

The Toyota crashed just south of the Yolanda Avenue exit. The Press Democrat wrote that the accident took place on July 24 shortly after 3 a.m.

Meanwhile, the driver left the area following the wreck. CHP soon located and arrested Jhovanne Velazquez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in injury.

Records showed that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for sex crimes. The Santa Rosa hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
