Mariposa Wrongful Death Attorney
Based on the information provided in the report, the driver of the U.S. Forest Service vehicle will likely be held liable for the collision as it appears its driver swerved into the pickup truck. A thorough investigation will ensue, however, as photos that were taken of the scene and compiled evidence will help investigators determine the ultimate cause of the collision. Police officials will examine all potential factors including speed, the possible involvement of alcohol or drugs, or whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the family members both Joan and Lon Rice will subject to a wrongful death lawsuit pending the findings of the investigation. Victims may seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, funeral costs, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.
