
Man Hit and Killed by Vehicle on El Camino Real
San Francisco, CA (April 19, 2023) – Police arrested 52-year-old Joaquin Duarte in relation with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on El Camino Real April 5, Wednesday.
The San Francisco Gate News reported Duarte, was working as a system service foreworker for the transit agency. Preliminary investigation revealed the BART employee was driving near the 1500 block of El Camino Real when he struck a pedestrian walking through a marked crosswalk. The horrible crash took place around 1:06 p.m.
Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in San Francisco
Following the collision, officials confirmed Duarte fled the scene. Another passing motorist found the victim lying on the ground. When medical personnel arrived, they performed life-saving measures to the unconscious man but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Investigators later identified the hit-and-run suspect as Joaquin Duarte. According to the article published online, police arrested the man on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury collision. Officers booked the suspect in San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City.
