Joe Shami, 86, Fatally Struck by Vehicle at Olympic Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road Tuesday
Lafayette, CA (April 14, 2021) – A bicycle rider, Joe Shami, died following a traffic collision in the area of Olympic Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road Tuesday.
The East Bay Times reported the 86-year-old bicyclist was traveling in the roundabout junction at Lafayette 6:45 a.m. For reasons still unclear, an SUV struck Joe Shami at the intersection of Olympic and Pleasant Hill.

According to the article published online, an off-duty nurse passed by the scene and immediately rendered aid to Joe Shami until paramedics arrived. When the medical team arrived, they rushed the injured bicyclist to a hospital.
The patient, Joe Shami, sadly succumbed to his injuries and died Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the driver involved in the unfortunate event stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
