Joe Valdivia Arrested after Bicyclist Killed in Huntington Beach Crash
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (July 14, 2020) – A Huntington Beach man identified as Joe Alfred Valdivia, 46, was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly fled the scene of a fatal bicycle accident on Beach Boulevard.
A man riding a bicycle was reportedly struck by Valdivia’s vehicle early Tuesday in Huntington Beach at Sunrise Drive, roughly a half mile from Pacific Coast Highway.
The traffic accident took place about 12:25 a.m., according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The male bicyclist was found by police unresponsive in the roadway, but the driver of the involved vehicle was gone.
Paramedics responded and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found the vehicle and Valdivia was charged with hit-and-run resulting in a death or injury and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
