Man Killed in Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident on Del Mar Heights Road
DEL MAR, Calif. (April 13, 2021) – Johannes Sack, 72, of San Diego, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Del Mar Heights Road in Del Mar.
The fatal hit-and-run crash happened about 2:16 p.m. on April 9th at Mar Scenic Drive, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The victim was crossing from the north side of Del Mar Heights Road to the south side when a 2004 Saturn Vue driven by Raul Garcia struck him. The motorist fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Paramedics responded and rushed the pedestrian to Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla. Sadly, he later died of his injuries at the hospital about 3:13 p.m., according to the coroner. Later, the victim was identified as Johannes Reinhard Sack.
Meanwhile, witnesses followed the suspect and got him to return to the crash scene where he was questioned by authorities. Police arrested Raul Garcia on multiple charges after the collision.
