FONTANA, Calif. (April 6, 2023) — John Dewit, 57, of Eastvale, died in a motorcycle crash at Baseline Avenue and Palmetto Avenue in Fontana.
The collision occurred around 7:07 a.m. on Thursday, April 6th, according to the Fontana Police Department.
The man was riding a 2011 silver Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Baseline Avenue. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old Fontana woman was heading northbound in a white 2010 Chrysler 300 sedan on Palmetto Avenue.
Police say the woman stopped at the stop sign, but then continued into the intersection and into the path of the motorcyclist. The rider collided with the side of the car, the Fontana Herald News reports.
The Eastvale man was thrown off the bike and suffered major injuries. He died at the scene around 7:17 a.m., police said.
Investigators with the Fontana Police Department are working on the case.
