Passenger Identified in Fatal Gas Station Crash in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (July 15, 2024) — John William Edwards Jr., 60, died Saturday when the car he was riding into went off State Route 78 and crashed into a building at a gas station in Oceanside.
The traffic accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th, according to a press release by the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The victim was traveling as a passenger in a Hyundai sedan whose driver lost control while exiting State Route 78 and then crashed near the 3800 block of Plaza Drive, the report said.
The Oceanside Police Department responded and located the victim deceased in the vehicle and transported the injured driver to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine if any charges will be filed against the driver.
