Man, 62, Killed in Crash Involving Suspected DUI Driver on Coast Boulevard
DEL MAR, Calif. (June 27, 2024) — John Fraser, 62, of Solana Beach, died a week ago in a solo-vehicle crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Coast Boulevard in Del Mar.
The deadly crash occurred at around 11:55 p.m. on June 19th, according to the Times of San Diego.
The news report stated the victim was riding as a passenger in a 2019 Maserati Gran Turismo driven by Elizabeth Brooks, 52, when the vehicle crashed near San Dieguito Lagoon. The vehicle reportedly struck a parked pickup truck and a palm tree.
Paramedics Transport Injured Man to Hospital
The Solana Beach man suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. He died roughly 45 minutes later at the hospital. The San Diego Medical Examiner later identified him as John Fraser.
Meanwhile, the driver identified as Elizabeth Brooks reportedly fled on foot.
Police located the suspect and she was treated for undisclosed injuries before being arrested on charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
The case remains under investigation.
