CORONA, California (February 1, 2016) — John Hutcherson, 66, of Placentia was killed Sunday night when his car crashed into an unoccupied tow truck on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway, roughly a quarter mile north of Temescal Canyon Road, a report by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The fatal crash was reported at 11:37 a.m., but there were few details provided. It’s unclear what lane the driver was traveling in and whether the tow truck had its lights on or not. There could be liability on the part of the tow truck operator if the vehicle was a traffic hazard to other drivers.
Police are investigating the circumstances and will issue a report determining liability.
