Driver Killed in Riverside Crash at Van Buren and Jurupa
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2018) — John Kelley, 49, of Eastvale, died and another person was injured Friday when a car ran a red light at Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Avenue, the Riverside Police Department said in a written statement.
The crash took place about 6 a.m. this morning at the Riverside intersection.
A Ford Focus was heading south on Van Buren Boulevard and allegedly ran through a red light while trying to turn left onto Jurupa Avenue, police said.
Upon entering the intersection, the Ford crashed head-on with a silver Hyundai that was traveling north on Van Buren Boulevard, police said.
Paramedics rushed the driver from the Ford to a hospital where he later died.
The other driver who was in the Hyundai was treated for moderate injuries.
The Riverside police Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
