Skateboarder Struck by Car on Nimitz Boulevard Dies at Hospital
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2021) — John Patrick Robinson, 27, of San Diego, died four days after a skateboard accident on Nimitz Boulevard in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego.
Additionally, the deadly collision with a car happened about 7:45 a.m. on October 5th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
John Robinson was riding a skateboard down West Point Loma Boulevard. He allegedly rode the skateboard into the intersection against a red traffic light, the report said. That’s when an oncoming Subaru struck the skateboard rider, according to the San Diego Police Department. The 27-year-old San Diego man hit the windshield of the vehicle driven by an unidentified 63-year-old man.
Paramedics responded and rushed the seriously injured man by ambulance to U.C. San Diego Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The young man was “pulseless and had a head injury,” the coroner said. Doctors treated him for multiple injuries and admitted him into the hospital. However, his condition declined and on Oct. 9th he died at the hospital, the report said.
Meanwhile, the San Diego Police Department is heading up the crash investigation.
