John Shoff, 31, Seriously Injured in Accident at Bagley and Recreation
FRESNO (October 9, 2018) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by an alleged DUI driver at Bagley and Recreation avenues Tuesday night, according to The Fresno Bee.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old John Shoff.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 1997 Toyota was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed south on Bagley Avenue when its driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
The speeding motorist, 48-year-old Lawrence Vanderhoof, then went into slide and struck Shoff who was walking on the edge of the northbound lane of the road.

The Toyota ultimately slammed into a water main valve and came to a stop against a chain-link fence. The collision occurred in an industrial area near Highway 99 and Central Avenue, near Malaga.
CHP affirmed that Shoff was transported to the hospital with a major leg injury. His condition at this time was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, Vanderhoof reportedly attempted to run following the crash but was arrested. The Clovis man was booked on charges of driving under the influence.
