John Slade, 69, Killed in Highway 101 Car Accident
VENTURA (August 22, 2017) – A man killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash along Highway 101 on July 6 has been identified as 69-year-old John Slade, according to The Ventura County Star.
The accident took place around 11:45 p.m., north of Victoria Avenue.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a speeding car was going north on Highway 101 when it struck a vehicle driven by Slade. Slade lost control of his car and slammed into a guardrail on the right side of the roadway.
His vehicle rolled over across all lines into the median. The other car veered right, crashed through a guardrail and went off the roadway, ending up on its side in a ditch.
Slade, of Ojai, was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center where he died.
Hit-and-Run Suspect Patrick McVicker Sought
CHP named the driver who was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed as 48-year-old Patrick John McVicker. The Ventura suspect did not stop to render aid and fled the scene, leaving his passenger with minor injuries.
Until now McVicker remains at large and is facing two felony charges—gross vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury. He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 225 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
