John Valenzuela Luera Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, Calif. (August 1, 2025) — John Valenzuela Luera, 66, was struck and killed by a suspected impaired driver Tuesday night, July 29, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene around 10:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision near the intersection of Bristol Street and Segerstrom Avenue. When they arrived, they found Luera in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Luera had been walking in the traffic lanes when he was hit. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators arrested the motorist on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The incident remains under investigation.
