Johnny Dale Trujillo, 49, Fatally Run Over by Vehicle Near El Campo Road

October 10, 2018 – 49-year-old Johnny Dale Trujillo died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 101 near El Campo Road, according to a local news source.
The accident took place on Tuesday around 6:30 a.m.
As per the article, the incident was triggered by a deer that had run onto Highway 101. Officials said a 54-year-old Orcutt man was heading south in the area when he hit a deer that had run onto the roadway. The impact caused the animal to be thrown into the next traffic lane, directly into the path of a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Officials later identified the motorcyclist as Trujillo. Initial reports indicated Trujillo also struck the deer, then was ejected from his motorcycle.
At the same time, a Toyota Prius was passing on the highway, and was unable to stop on time and ran over Trujillo who was downed on the highway. Medical records indicated Trujillo suffered fatal trauma as a result of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Prius driver, 67-year-old Kathryn Sue Hoag, of Arroyo Grande, and the other motorist were both reportedly unharmed in the crash.
The detectives handling the case continue to work to determine liability in the deadly collision.
