Newport Beach Law Firm Adopts Three OC Families for Christmas
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2020) — Johnson Attorneys Group adopted three local families for Christmas this year in an effort to bring joy and happiness to those who are in need.
The Newport Beach firm chose a family to sponsor through Share Our Selves (SOS) in Costa Mesa.
Last year donors to the Share Our Selves program provided gifts to 1,490 families with 4,537 children. This year the program was altered due to the pandemic and instead of delivering actual gifts, donors provided gift cards to family members. The gift cards will be delivered by Share Our Selves to deserving families in Orange County. Roughly 50,000 families have been “adopted” since the inception of the program, according to SOS.
Share Our Selves Adopted Families
The first family comprises a single father and two girls ages 2 and 6 years old. The 30-year-old father works as a cook in a restaurant to provide for his children, but with low wages and decreased hours due to Covid-19 it’s been a struggle for their family. His girls wanted Barbie dolls, toys and warm clothing for Christmas.
The second family has a mother, father and three boys ages 9, 13 and 19 years old. The family has suffered reduced work hours due to Covid-19 and is struggling to provide for their family. While the father has been working, the mother has not been able to and they need some of the most basic necessities such as food and clothing. The boys would like to buy basketball gear, Legos, a scooter and video games.
Finally, the third family includes a mother, father and three boys ages 8, 11 and 14 years old. The parents, ages 35 and 36 years old, have had their income significantly reduced due to the pandemic. Their requests were simple: food, shoes and warm clothing. The children would like to purchase soccer gear, puppets, puzzles, and Godzilla toys for Christmas.
Attorney James Johnson, along with staff at the Newport Beach law firm, together donated $2,300 to three families this year. The law firm donated $500 in gift cards for each of the three families for food and each one of the children will receive a $100 Target gift card for presents and or clothing. The families may purchase the items for their children so they have presents under the tree this year and money for much-needed food and household items. This year’s drop off was held at the Orange County Fairgrounds where helpers wearing face shields and dressed like reindeer received donations.
From our Johnson Attorneys Group family to yours… Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
