Jon Heemeier Critically Injured in San Diego Pedestrian Crash at Pacific and Hawthorn
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 6, 2023) – A pedestrian crash critically injured Jon Heemeier near Pacific Highway and Hawthorn Street in San Diego.
Family members identified the Washington man as the victim of the accident which took place last week on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Jon Heemeier was crossing near Pacific Highway and West Hawthorn Street in San Diego. At the same time, a car was making a right turn in the area.
Victim Hit by Car
For an unknown reason, the vehicle struck him as he walked across the crosswalk. The ABC 10 News wrote that the collision occurred on March 1 at around 5:45 a.m.
Jon Heemeier sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident. He suffered multiple fractures and a traumatic head injury, causing his brain to bleed.
Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital and placed him in the ICU. Meanwhile, police said the driver who hit the victim did not stop to render aid and fled the site.
Officers forced the corner of Pacific and Hawthorn to shut down for a time after the incident. The cause of the San Diego pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
